Another hot day in the midlands. We started the game very shaky and I take the blame for that. As it was so hot I didn't want the lads running around too much warming up, so we took it easy and it showed. The other team came out all fired up and took the game to us the first ten minutes. We were back on our heels and numerous mis- kicks, poor marking and ball watching allowed them to pressure us in their attacking third. In the eight minute they got a restart about twenty- five yards out and towards the touchline. They played a nice ball across the six and found their strikler open in the centre of the box and he headed it home to take the lead. It was poor defending by us, but a well deserved goal for them. We then started to wake up and were creating chances while keeping them hemmed in their half of the pitch. Finally, in the eighteenth minute Jamie slid the ball to Max who had a defender on his back. Max took a couple of touches to get turned on goal and beat the keeper low in the far corner of the goal to tie it up. We continued to pressure and in the thirty -third minute a long kick from our keeper Cauley bounced to Jamie at the edge of the box. He turned nicely and hit a powerful shot in the upper corner from about fifteen yards out, giving the goalie no chance. We created many more chances and missed some tap in's. They created some chances by their hard work, but our defense never gave them a clear- cut shot on goal. In the seventy- second minute the ball was worked into their penalty area and was knocked around until Brandon got a foot to it and it went in off the goalie's hands. It was a relief to get the third goal to give us some breathing room. Florence continued to play hard and never gave up trying to score. We were playing well at this point and should have extended our lead, but in the end were glad to come away with a victory. .
